Pros and Cons of Vintage Clothes, New Free People Vintage Collection

Today I'm loving vintage. The best thing about vintage is, survey says, I'll still be in love with it tomorrow too.

Vintage clothing is a wardrobe investment; uniquely discovered and uniquely worn, vintage is in my opinion much more individual then overpriced, cheaply made, disposable mall clothing that has so rampantly infects our society. It also vastly increases the odds that the wearer will be the only one in the room wearing something like it.

So if you're a superstar being stalked by society at large, by wearing vintage you can successfully avoid the whole humiliation of losing the "Who Wore It Better" category in the weeklies, where waistline and shoulder definition usually win out over actual style.

Although a vintage piece might fit in perfectly to the trends of the season, it isn't as recognizable as say, last seasons Coach, which is easily recognizable and basically loses value after the current season. Am I right? Who wants to wear the really hot super trendy sequin bags of....2002? Not I, captain. It doesn't matter if they're still "cute", they're recognizably "out".

Enough preaching.

What I'm super excited about today is the launch of Free People's "Vintage Loves" collection online. The buyer hunts specifically for one of a kind vintage and then posts it online for the public to A) drool over, or B) purchase. Unfortunately, there is only ONE of each piece. . .

Gorgeously feminine. Check out the entire collection at FreePeople.com

Even if this was vintage, I'd still hate it. No, a shred of cheap, shiny spandex over one's breasts does not constitute a wearable(or flattering) top. I hope and pray those puppies are secured in some magically invisible way...

Who wore (or... didn't wear) it better?
